Leipzig, 23. November 2023. Two double winners and two sustainable prizes: At the 11th SO!APART – a serviced apartment symposium at Leipzig in Germany – the SO!APART Awards have been presented last night with two jury premieres. The serviced apartment house Revo Munich, which opened last year, won among the award-winning serviced apartment businesses both: as best newcomer in the "new and special" category and in the "big and great - aparthotel" category. The Black F Tower in Freiburg also won two trophies: in the "large and grand – serviced apartment block" category and as the best aparthotel in the "sustainable and special" category. For the first time, the sustainability award was split into two categories for a new build and an existing property. The Adapt Apartments in Berlin won the award for existing properties. The jury chose the freytag in Hamburg as the best "small fine" house. In the public awards, the PM-AM Apartments in Dortmund and the Adapt Apartments in Berlin received the most votes. The Special Award also came as a surprise: this year, hotel lawyer Marc P. Werner got itfor his commitment to the serviced apartment segment.
"For the most part, we were able to report even better performance figures for the serviced apartment segment in Germany this year than in the previous year. Nevertheless, developments in the property market and rising costs have been challenging for everyone," says Anett Gregorius, organiser of SO!APART and owner and founder of Apartmentservice. "We are delighted that we were able to select strong winners." The SO!APART Awards were presented in five jury categories in 2023. The freytag in Hamburg impressed the jury in the "small fine" category with a maximum of 50 serviced apartment units. The hotel belongs to Sicon Hospitality in Hamburg (including Hood House) and focuses on a small, refined old building concept with a salon culture, emphasised Heinrich Böhm, Senior Designer and Partner at JOI-Design Innenarchitekten, in his laudatory speech. The Revo München in Munich won the SO!APART Award 2023 in the "large and grand" category for aparthotels. "The new high-rise building with around 600 serviced apartments and rooms has managed to create a special cosmos - with an enormous variety and attention to detail that is rarely found in the segment," said jury member Sylvie Konzack, editor-in-chief of the trade magazine SO!APART insight. Revo Munich therefore also won in the "new and special" category. In addition, there was another double winner this year: the Black F Tower in Freiburg also picked up two trophies. "We were already enthusiastic about the brand's debut building in 2021," says jury member Uwe Niemann, Head of Market Hotel Financing at Deutsche Hypo NORD/LB Real Estate Finance. "The Black F Tower is yet another real development and wins in the 'large and grand' category (apartment building)." However, the jury members Henrik von Bothmer, Head of Operated Living at Union Investment, and architect Helmut Dörfer, Partner at Dörfer Grohnmeier Architekten Partnerschaft, emphasised that both – the concept of the new building and the operation of the Black F Tower – are exemplary in terms of sustainability. They presented the second award for the Black F Tower in the "sustainable and special" category - and also a surprise with a trophy for another building. It was the first time the sustainability award had been presented for a new build and an existing property. The Adapt Apartments in Berlin impressed the jury as an existing property. The apartment complex already opted for a clay façade when it was built over ten years ago, for example, and still pursues a far-reaching sustainability strategy in its operations today. The audience prizes with another double win and a special award The public alone decided the winners in the categories "The most popular small hotel" and "The most popular large hotel" in an online vote. Christoph Carnier, President of the business travel association VDR, presented the prizes for the first time to PM-AM Apartments in Dortmund and as the most popular large hotel to Adapt Apartments in Berlin, which once again took home two prizes on the evening. The winner of this year's Special Award, which the jury presents each year to a special person, initiative or project, was also a surprise. This year's winner was Marc P. Werner, Head of the global Hotels, Leisure & Gaming Group at Hogan Lovells. "He has been negotiating contracts for the hotel industry for over 30 years. Since he became aware of the serviced apartment segment a few years ago, he has been promoting it in a special way with lectures and articles and gives the topic space in his own hotel events. Marc P. Werner's work has helped to increase professionalism in the segment," said Anett Gregorius. SO!APART with the motto "New big thinking in a difficult market environment" All award winners were announced and honoured at a ceremony on the evening of 22 November 2023 at SO!APART in Leipzig. The most important conference for the serviced apartment segment in German-speaking countries took place for the 11th time this year. In keeping with the motto "New big thinking in a difficult market environment", the most important players in the serviced apartment segment came together in Leipzig at the Felix Suites on Augustusplatz to explore ways of creating further momentum. Union Investment and neworld were involved in the event as "exclusive partners". Further information on the symposium and award ceremony can be found at www.so-apart.de  and www.soapart-insight.de.
