Darmstadt, 5 December 2023: Merck KGaA is investigating a highly selective oral and central nervous system penetrant Bruton’s tyrosine kinase inhibitor (BTKi) as a potential treatment for relapsing multiple sclerosis ("RMS") in two pivotal phase III clinical trials (evolutionRMS 1 and evolutionRMS 2, together the "Clinical Trials"). Both Clinical Trials, evaluating the efficacy and safety of evobrutinib compared to teriflunomide for up to 156 weeks, did not meet the primary endpoint of reducing annualized relapse rates (ARR) in people with RMS. Evobrutinib is currently under clinical investigation and not approved for any use anywhere in the world.
