PRESS RELEASE Hamburg, 10 January 2024 Deminor signs the "Green Pledge" Deminor is one of the first litigation funders to sign the Green Pledge agreement of the Campaign for Greener Arbitrations The Green Pledge aims to raise awareness of impact on emissions and drive carbon footprint reduction in dispute resolution Deminor has become one of the first litigation funders in the world to sign the international Green Pledge agreement of the Campaign for Greener Arbitrations. Deminor is committed to raising awareness of its own carbon footprint in the industry and implementing various measures to reduce its own carbon footprint. These include, among other things: Creating a working environment with the lowest possible environmental impact through efficient energy consumption and minimized waste The preference for electronic correspondence over paper documents, which should also be demanded from stakeholders. However, there is an awareness that emails also cause a CO2 footprint The preference for video conferencing tools over business trips or physical meetings. It should also be considered or suggested that clients and experts make their statements via video conferencing tools Selecting service providers and suppliers that are focused on reducing their environmental impact The Campaign for Greener Arbitrations aims to raise awareness of the need to manage arbitration in a sustainable way. It is supported by representatives from the industry who want to raise awareness of the environmental impact of arbitration proceedings and provide practical guidance for lawyers and other stakeholders in arbitration, such as arbitrators or the parties to the dispute, in the form of best practice guidelines. The initiative goes back to the British lawyer Lucy Greenwood, who developed the agreement in 2019 and was the first to sign it. Dr. Malte Stübinger, General Legal Counsel at Deminor: “We are delighted to be one of the first litigation funders to sign the Green Pledge. In doing so, we are raising awareness of our own carbon footprint and environmental impact in the industry and making an active contribution to reducing our own environmental impact. In order to achieve the goal of climate neutrality by 2050, international dispute resolution – like every other industry – must rethink and take immediate action. With the Green Pledge, we have a great initiative and concrete measures for implementation.” Further information on the Green Pledge can be found here: https://www.greenerarbitrations.com/about About Deminor Deminor Recovery Services (Luxembourg) SA (“Deminor”) is one of the top 10 international litigation funders.
